What you'll learn
This course shows you how to use Microsoft Copilot confidently, safely, and effectively across everyday work inside Microsoft 365.
It is practical, hands-on, and designed for immediate application using Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and Copilot Chat.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Use Copilot in your core Microsoft 365 apps to save time and improve quality across emails, meetings, documents, and reporting
- Reduce overload by letting Copilot summarise, organise, and create strong first drafts, so you can focus on judgement and creativity
- Use Copilot Chat to answer questions using your organisation’s content, and run structured prompts for clearer, more reliable outcomes
- Understand what Copilot can and cannot see, and how permissions affect results, so you stay in control of what is shared and surfaced
- Build and reuse simple Copilot Agents and identify repeatable workflows for consistent outputs, without turning your work into a science project
You will move from “I’ve tried it a bit” to confident, capable Copilot use, with practical patterns you can repeat across your working week.
Course Structure
Copilot AI skills is delivered as a live, half-day session with a bonus hackathon to follow. It is hands-on throughout, with live demos, guided exercises, and practical examples drawn from real roles and scenarios.
Pre-Module:
Tech Check
For those who need it, there is a half hour tech check a week before the main session to make sure you've got the right Copilot license.
Half day course
Module 1:
Getting more done with Copilot in everyday work
This module helps you get immediate value in the places work actually happens: Outlook and Teams.
You will learn how to:
- Reduce inbox overload by summarising and prioritising email threads
- Draft clearer emails faster, with a tone that fits your audience
- Stay on top of meetings with automatic summaries, actions, and follow-ups
- Set up meetings so Copilot can help
- Put this into practice on your own use cases
Module 2:
Working smarter with Copilot for data and content
This module focuses on using Copilot in Excel, Word and PowerPoint for faster analysis and stronger outputs.
You will learn how to:
- Ask questions of your data in plain English to spot trends and outliers
- Create simple charts and summaries without wrestling formulas (still sanity-checking results)
- Draft and refine documents with consistent structure and tone
- Turn notes or an outline into presentation-ready content
Module 3:
Copilot chat as your knowledge navigator
In this session we explore using copilot as a knowledge aggregator. You'll learn to extract patterns and project-wide insights rather than focusing on localised file edits.
You will learn how to:
- Use structured prompts to get clearer, more reliable outputs
- Ask questions across your Microsoft 365 content, based on what you already have access to
- Identify themes, gaps, risks, and action points across documents, emails and Teams conversations
- Refine outputs with quick critique prompts so you stay the human in the loop
Module 4:
Scaling up with agents and workflows
This module introduces Copilot Agents and when they add value over one-off prompts.
You will learn:
- What an Agent is and when (not to) use one
- How to build, test, and share a simple Agent for repeatable work
- How Pages and Workflows Agents help you chain tasks and reduce repeat admin
- What Copilot Studio adds, and when it is relevant for more complex workflows
The emphasis is on sustainable value, controlled automation.
Copilot Hackathon (9 Jul)
One week after the course, we’re hosting a bonus session where you can bring your own projects and we’ll help you turn them into simple, repeatable workflows. No new features are introduced here - it’s 100% focused on getting your real-life tasks done.
During the session, you will:
- Fix and improve your workflows, making sure your prompts and digital assistants work exactly how you want.
- Turn your chores into templates, so you can handle recurring tasks with a single click.
- See how others are working, picking up useful shortcuts from colleagues in different roles.
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with:
- One big task fully set up and ready for you to use immediately.
- A library of your own prompts, tailored to the way you and your team actually work.
- The confidence to keep building, so you can find new ways to use Copilot on your own.
Our gift to you.
