About us

Turning AI ambition into everyday advantage

We help built environment firms across the UK and Ireland move from AI curiosity to practical, responsible adoption, through strategy, training, workflow automation, and AI agent development.

Our story

The story so far

START
Where we began

We started as AI trainers

We trained teams across structural, civil and M&E engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, construction and data centres, in firms throughout Ireland and the UK.

From the beginning, we measured the impact of that work, through AI-supported evaluation, participant feedback and what happened after the training. Our training NPS consistently sits in the 70s and 80s, which may not mean much to you unless you're L&D. The real measure is that clients come back to work with us and they recommend us to others.

THEN
As training spread

We added strategy and use-case workshops

As our AI training proliferated across teams, the question shifted from how to use AI to how to plan for it: how do we make this deliberate rather than ad hoc?

These sessions help leadership teams understand where AI fits in their business, decide which direction to take, and identify the processes worth tackling first. They are also where we often uncover the problems that training alone cannot solve.

2025
As agents evolved

We began to offer agent build

Training will not solve every problem. There are some big "how we do things" processes that can be best solved by agent build.

We first thought we might help people to learn how to do this for themselves; then we realised that time-poor engineers, architects, quantity surveyors and construction and data centre companies don't always want to learn how to do that. So we added technical build skills to our team. This can be a natural add-on to a training programme, or it can be a stand-alone in itself.

2026
Working at the edge of adoption

We call it Capability

2026 is moving fast, and because we work at the very edge of AI adoption, we introduced a new service. It brings together three things our clients need at the same time.

Build

Clients buy hours of our technical team's time to finish projects they have started, or to bring their own ideas to life.

Training updates

Focused guidance on the latest tools, features and ways of working, so teams do not have to keep up with everything themselves.

AI governance

A clear view of the AI tools and agents in use, who owns them, what they do, and how they are being used. We turn that into a quarterly report for senior management teams and AI leads, creating a practical evidence base for ongoing governance and EU AI Act readiness.

That is how the AI Institute has evolved: from helping people understand AI, to helping organisations decide where it belongs, build what matters, and manage it responsibly over time.

VALUES

What we believe

At the AI Institute, our approach is built on principles that guide every project we take on:

A 30-minute call to find where your firm is losing time - and how AI can recover it. Brief report included. No obligation.

AI should augment people

The best use of AI is not replacing expertise. It is helping skilled people spend less time on repetitive work and more time on judgement, creativity and problem-solving.

Adoption matters more than experimentation

A successful AI project is not an impressive demo. It is a practical change that people understand, use and trust in their everyday work.

Start with the work

We focus on real processes, real constraints and measurable opportunities — not technology for its own sake.

Progress needs responsibility

AI adoption should account for security, bias, governance, transparency and the people affected by the systems being introduced.
