Purpose and Scope
AI Institute is committed to running a business that minimises its environmental impact and creates lasting social value for the people and industries we work with. This policy applies to all AI Institute employees and contractors and to all services we deliver, including AI training, consultancy and agent builds.
Environmental Commitments
We design how we deliver training and run our business to keep our environmental footprint as low as possible.
Training is delivered online via Microsoft Teams, removing participant and trainer travel for most sessions. In-person delivery is used only where it adds clear value for the client, with public transport used where practical.
All workbooks, session recordings and certificates are digital. We do not produce printed course materials.
We operate entirely on cloud services with no on-premises servers, and favour suppliers with published carbon reduction commitments.
Our team works remotely, reducing commuting and office energy use.
We extend the working life of devices and dispose of IT equipment through approved WEEE recycling routes.
We help built environment organisations build AI skills at every level, from boards to site and support teams, strengthening the long-term employability of their people.
We design training for non-technical learners, provide session recordings for those unable to attend live, and aim to make our materials accessible to all participants.
Every programme covers safe, ethical and well-governed use of AI, including data protection and human oversight.
We share practical AI knowledge freely through the ChattingGPT podcast and our newsletter.
We work with independent trainers and specialists based in Ireland and the UK.
Responsible AI
Our Responsible AI Guidelines set out how we choose AI tools, talk about AI and use AI in client work. They apply to all employees and contractors across training, consultancy, agent builds and marketing.
We only use, teach and build with AI tools whose providers meet these standards:
- Safety. Publish clear safety and responsible AI commitments.
- Data protection. Offer business terms that protect client data, including not training on customer data by default.
- Compliance. Comply with GDPR and provide EU or UK data processing options.
- Accountability. Have a track record of acting on harmful or misleading outputs.
Tools that fall short of these standards are not used in client work or recommended in training. Our approved tools list is reviewed every six months.
We do not use job loss narratives or fear of being left behind to drive engagement, in marketing or in training. We do not use images of robots replacing workers or similar visuals; we show real people doing real work. We present AI as a tool that supports people, and we are open about its limitations, risks and real effects on work, so participants can judge it for themselves.
We use AI agents across our own business. It is our policy that agents support our people and do not replace them. Where an agent takes on work previously done by a person, that person is redeployed to other parts of the business.
AI outputs are checked by a person before they are relied on, and we teach participants to do the same.
Training exercises use redacted data. On agent builds we access only the data needed for the job, within the client’s own environment, and our access is removed on completion. Client data is never entered into tools outside our approved list.
Responsibility and Review
The Founder and Managing Director is responsible for this policy. It is shared with all employees and contractors, reviewed annually, and updated as the business grows. Our Responsible AI Guidelines and approved AI tools list are reviewed every six months.

Social Value Commitments
Beyond our own footprint, we aim to create lasting social value for the people and industries we work with.
