What you'll learn

This course shows project managers, site managers and quantity surveyors how to use Copilot for Microsoft 365 to take the friction out of project work. You direct in plain English. Copilot does the assembly.

Practical and hands-on, built around cost plans, programmes, variations, risks and site reports. You leave with prompt patterns you can apply to live projects the same week.

  • Turn cost plans, plans and risk registers into clear outputs
  • Spot issues in programmes and contractor submissions before they hit site
  • Track progress, variations and actions consistently across projects
  • Capture site observations using voice and photos
  • Sense-check specifications and drawings using Copilot Chat
  • Apply responsible-use principles aligned to project governance

Who it's for

Project managers, site managers and quantity surveyors who want Copilot doing the project admin so they can focus on the project. No technical AI background needed.

Project Manager
You are spending too much time on admin and not enough time on the project. This course shows you how Copilot handles the paperwork, reporting, and coordination so you can focus on delivering.
Site Managers
You need everything on site documented, tracked, and communicated without it eating into your day. This course shows you how AI takes care of the admin so you can stay focused on the work in front of you.
Quantity Surveyors
You are managing costs, contracts, and documentation across multiple projects at once. This course shows you how Copilot streamlines the heavy admin so you can focus on the numbers that matter.

Module 1 · 14 July
Turn plans, cost plans and risks into clear outputs

Use Copilot in Excel and Copilot in Word to convert raw cost data and risk registers into outputs your team and clients can act on. No more rebuilding from scratch.

  • Turn cost plan workings into clear summaries
  • Convert risk registers into board-ready narratives
  • Spot anomalies and outliers in cost and programme data
  • Produce client-ready outputs from rough working files
  • A multi-tab cost plan turned into a one-page commercial summary

Module 2 · 14 July
Spot issues before they hit site

Use Copilot Chat to analyse reports, programmes and contractor submissions early. Surface gaps before they reach site or commercial impact.

  • Pull together programmes, reports and Teams discussions
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies and missing dependencies
  • Sense-check contractor submissions against specification
  • Surface programme risks before they become commercial problems
  • A 4-week look-ahead review across programme, RFIs and minutes

Module 3 · 21 July
Track progress consistently across projects

Set up repeatable Copilot patterns so progress, variations and actions get tracked the same way every time. Audit-ready by default.

  • Build prompt patterns for variation tracking and approval status
  • Standardise progress reporting across projects and teams
  • Reduce duplication in monthly reporting
  • Support auditability through consistent use
  • A repeatable Copilot pattern for monthly project reporting

Module 4 · 21 July
Site-side Copilot using voice and photos

Use Copilot mobile, voice input and photo prompts during site walks. Capture, check and report without breaking your flow.

  • Capture site observations using voice input
  • Sense-check quantities and dimensions from site photos
  • Sense-check a spec or drawing detail in real time
  • Send observations into Teams, OneNote or email immediately
  • A defect-capture walk that produces a written report by the time you reach the site office

Copilot hackathon · 28 July
Included in price
One week after the course, bring your own projects and we'll help turn them into simple, repeatable workflows. Fix and improve your workflows, turn recurring chores into templates, and see how colleagues in different roles are working. You'll leave with one task fully set up and a library of your own prompts tailored to the way you and your team actually work.

Agent Build
This course is where it starts, not where it ends. For those who are ready to go further, the AI Institute works directly with estate agency teams to build automations  - listing workflows, tenant screening pipelines, client communication sequences  - and hands them back through targeted training so your team can run and maintain them without depending on outside support.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Copilot licence to attend?
Yes. The course is built around Copilot for Microsoft 365. Each participant needs an active Copilot for M365 licence assigned by IT admin.
Can I use Copilot on site or only at the desk?
Both. Module 4 covers Copilot mobile, voice input and photo-based prompts for site use.
Will Copilot have access to commercial project data?
Copilot uses your existing Microsoft 365 permissions. It only sees data you are already authorised to see.
Will sessions be recorded?
Yes. All live sessions are recorded and available to access for 90 days after the course finishes, so you can revisit any section at your own pace.
What if some of our team are new to Copilot and others are not?
The course is built for mixed cohorts. Foundations sit in Module 1, applied modules give experienced users new techniques without losing newer users.
Does it work for civils, fit-out and refurb teams?
Yes. Examples come from main contractor and consultant practice, but the patterns apply across construction disciplines.
